Hello everyone!! I have been on Huel, probably about 2 weeks now, and while I do love the simplicity of it, and have really gotten used to the taste, I am still having some major digestive issues with it. To tell you about me without getting too graphic…for years, I was a “go once and go good” in the morning type of guy, unless I really over ate that day, and I might have to go in the evening. However, since starting Huel, I go some in the morning, but then have to go in the evening. And, when I say, “Go”, I mean go. The bad thing is, I can be fine one minute, maybe a little gassy, but then about 15 minutes later it’s “touching cotton”, if you get my drift. It’s gotten so bad that I have almost an hour, daily commute through some backroads where there aren’t any bathrooms, and it has started to give me anxiety because I don’t want to be about 25 minutes into my trip, my stomach start cramping, and me not be near a bathroom because I start to panic, which only makes it worse. I can drink something like Slim Fast, which still has a good bit of fiber, albeit not as much as Huel, and I’m fine with that most all the time. Has anyone experienced this and did it get any better? I mean I have been using Huel, like I said, for probably 2 weeks or so because I had went through a whole bag of the Black Edition chocolate that I got from GNC-which doesn’t look as big as the bag that I got when I ordered straight from Huel-and had also drank probably 9-10 of the RTD shakes, and had ate 2-3 packs of the noodles in that time, and it wasn’t getting any better. Actually, on Sunday, I only had 1 Huel RTD shakes and that evening, I had to go to the bathroom again. I was letting our daughter drive to work and I had to get her to speed up so I could drop her off and hurry up and get back home. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a blessed day!!
It took me a little while for my body to adjust. One thing though is to drink it slow. Like at least 5 minutes, I try for 10. When I drink it too fast, I pay for it later.
Thanks so much Ndiz for responding! I actually do drink it slow. I have around an hour commute in the morning and I use almost that entire hour to sip on it. I don’t really take a long time with the noodles, though, but if I have a RTD shake in the evening, I usually keep it at my desk and sip on it for the next hour to an hour and a half. Now, I do take some Metamucil at night and take a probiotic in the morning, but that’s something I have done for years. I’m giving it another go to see if I can do it this time. Thanks again for the response! Have an awesome day!!
I suggest stopping the Metamucil. That is pure fiber and you’re getting a ton with Huel and whatever else you’re eating that day.
I would actually pause that and the probiotic for a week and see if anything changes. Your body may adjust to Huel after a while, most do. But no need for a fiber supplement with it. The probiotic probably would be fine.
Also be sure you’re drinking 8-10 glasses of water daily to help things moving. I have a 32 oz insulated tumbler I keep at the bedside stand with cold water in, and the first thing I do when I wake I gulp some cool water and keep it going through the day and refill.
Ok. Sure will. Thanks so much for the response Ndiz!! Have a great day!!
