Curious how long it takes for light to degrade the black powder. I typically open a new bag and seperate it into portions in small mason jars which I then store in my dark basement. Occasionally I’ve left one on the kitchen counter to mix at night for overnight fridge storage, but sometimes I’ll forget I brought it up and the jar will sit out all day. Its not sitting in direct sunlight but your average daylight filled room. I’ve always assumed its still good to use but I’m second guessing myself
Hey there! Welcome back to the forum!
We don’t have an exact answer because we advise leaving the powder in the original packaging. This is because the original packaging has protective barriers for both light and oxygen that typical home kitchenware does not (e.g. glass mason jars, plastic tubs etc.).
While we can’t say for certain how long it would last, as long as the provided jars are clean and dry, there should be no reason for the powder to spoil or to see significant degradation of nutritional content if kept in normal conditions. The main concern would be the deterioration of the flavor over a longer time period.
