These were received…poorly on /r/huel
- 100g Huel
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp arrowroot powder
Mix ingredients. Roll into cylinder. Cut the length of tots. Lightly roll in olive oil, salt. Air fryer on 380 for 15 minutes.
Yes, they were good.
I’m surprised so many people think they would be disgusting. Huel U/U is pretty tasteless, so as a base, it’s not that much different from flour. I added the arrowroot because there’s not really any starch in Huel and I was worried it wouldn’t stick together.
I think when people imagine Huel, they think sweet. U/U is not sweet. Y’all gonna sit there and eat an everything bagel and then tell me that my Huel Tots are gross?!

Wow! They look great to me (and real crispy too)! Thank you for the recipe! I am going to have to give this a try - how do you think they would be in the oven versus the air fryer? I do not have an air fryer, unfortunately, so the oven is my next best option.
Saw that. People said they look like dog biscuits or something. I think it’s a great idea, and good on you!

I tried out your recipe! I tweaked it slightly and used flour instead of arrowroot as that is what I had in the pantry and I added pepper and less salt. I also used the oven at around 400F for 5-10 minutes and then flipped them over. Ultimately, they were in the oven for probably 15 ish minutes like yours! I took a photo, as well, but they do not look as good as they tasted. They were delicious! Did you dip them in any sauces or have them plain?!

All I have to say is that you guys are friggin geniuses! I will try this when I get my Huel order.
I ordered Huel Black, which is made with Tapioca starch, so do you think I will need to add any other starches?
I’d say make half a batch with additional starch and half without additional starch and see which comes out better!
And of course, let us know too!!
