I forget which comedian (perhaps multiple) had a joke about the relationships between the number of hotdogs and hotdog buns in their respective packages (and I’m not sure if it’s even true anymore), but the relationship between servings per bag of Huel (17) and delivery schedule (a multiple of 7 days between 7 and 70) feels a little bit the same. Worse, actually, because 17 and 7 are both prime.
Assuming that:
You consume Huel in whole servings, and
You consume the same number of servings each day,
then regardless of what that daily number of servings is and regardless of how frequently you get it delivered, it’s impossible to order the exact right amount of Huel.
Unless you eat a whole bag of Huel (or a multiple thereof) each day, I suppose, which is probably ill-advised for anyone.
I get that it’s probably in Huel’s best interest to have people slightly over-ordering, and I’m not sure how much of a difference it actually makes for most people anyway, but I do think in a (my) slightly more ideal world, Huel would either come in slightly cheaper bags of 14 servings or slightly more expensive bags of 21 servings.
@Tom in previous iterations of Huel the recommended serving was 500 calories which at that time equated to 14 servings per bag (28 per single subscription) so it definitely made sense then. I assume it’s also simpler for tracking purposes and website setup to use the number of weeks setup as opposed to number of days.
@kris4183 Oh, yeah, naturally the shipping would be in multiples of weeks. I actually think it’s great you have so many options for shipping frequency. I just meant that you might expect/hope bags to have servings in multiples of seven then (like they apparently used to). 14 * 500 ≠ 17 * 400, so they must have changed the quantity in each bag when they changed serving size. I don’t think they settled on 17 accidentally.
With the company philosophy being to reduce harm to the environment and animals, whey protein would be in direct conflict as it would increase harm to the environment and animals.
My go-to recipe includes half vanilla and half chocolate (both black edition). I would love a premixed vanilla / chocolate option (preferably black edition).
My recipe is 1 scoop black edition chocolate, 1 scoop black edition vanilla, 1 cup mixed frozen berries (typically a blackberry, raspberry, blueberry mix), 1 cup crushed ice, remainder water. Blend with Ninja, Vita-mix, or equivalent. Awesome meal after a workout.
Hey sc,
Thanks for sharing that simple recipe and welcome to the forum. Are you using just the choc/vanilla flavors exclusively? Have you tried any others?
Reduce your website’s use of javascript. JS slows down sites and often is unnecessary, mostly used for tracking and advertising purposes. Some JS is required for the website’s functionally, but this is a long list…
First, I wanna take this time to appreciate huel, I have been using it for almost a year. Best one is Black edition, Out of curiosity I tried 3.0, didn’t like it at all.
Packaging has been mess, honestly! Whenever I try to open new huel, First it doesn’t tear up open, usually stuck with very small opening. I want the tear portion just exactly to be above zipline so to make it easier to use. There’s always leftover plastic when I tear it. To be precise, not the best packaging. Would be really helpful if there are some minor changes or improvement in the packaging.
I’d have to agree with this. The seal on the bags has progressively gotten worse over the years. The tear tab on top was useful in the past. Now I know I need scissors and cut well below the tear line provided to actually be able to open the bag.
Got my first order … to my surprise, I got these big single packs of dust I have to scoop into my daily regimen.
Oh, wah wah wah! … I could have sworn that the stuff I saw on a clients desk (referral) was an individual serving size (which was what I expected). In short, I REALLY expected separate bagged servings of product and the website and information did NOT lead me to believe anything different… you know, * 'one bag, 17 meals"… (gotta read between the lines) So, there was immediate disappointment in that I have to proportion and scoop out and deal with my mobile, ‘on-the-run’ plans for the day…
The zip lock was faulty (I tried) and when I shook the bag… product was puffing out … geez!
So, recommendations? Please make the end-result crystal clear for an optimum good out-of-the-box experience. Just sayin’ Truth in advertising sort of thing.
I recommend that individual bagged servings are available at whatever cost option… I’d pay it.
Well if you’re going to improve service start with your shipping I’ve tried subscribing twice and both times the shipping sucks I’m on a fixed income I’m spending money on food that I can’t get! I love the product but I just don’t trust you to ship it to me on time thanks anyway
It never seemed ambiguous to me. There are only images of the large bags on the website. And I’m someone who uses different quantities of powder for different meals. The best way to make sure that you are getting the amount of food that want for a meal is to use a scale.
I shake my head in confusion and disbelief every time I read about someone’s shipping issue.
I have placed 2 orders so far (yes, I’m new). My first order arrived 3 days after receiving the notification/confirmation email and the 2nd order arrived TWO days after the email.
Both orders were complete, had nothing missing and no damage to either of the boxes. The FedEx driver left each box right at my front door without incident.
I have no idea where y’all’s problem originates but I suspect it’s local and not because of anything Huel’s personnel did or didn’t do.
If a company performs a service or makes a sale then they are responsible to see it completely fulfilled. Huel has given me a discount on my latest order and it is appreciated. I did stop my subscription as it seems that individual orders are more timely. If you have disbelief in these issues just wait and see, but I hope for the best for you. It is hands down the best product like this, but I invite you to do a search of topics and you will see that this is an ongoing issue. If it were my company I would find a more reliable shipper.
From another perspective of someone who has been on a subscription for the last 3 years I have only had 2 instances I can recall of delayed shipments. One was during a hurricane last year and another as COVID was starting to shut things down this year. Other than that I’ve always received my recurring order within 3-5 business days.
