Greens Serving Size

I’m wondering what’s going on with Huel Greens serving size? To be frank I’m a little suspicious…

I started using Huel Greens about 6 months ago and was enjoying the rich flavour with the 15g serving size.

I visited UK recently and bought a pouch of Greens only to discover that the serving size was nearly halved to 8.5g.

It now tasks like dish-water!!

What’s going on please - it feels like profiteering by Huel.

Hey Alexa,

First of all, welcome to the US Huel Forum!!

The Daily Greens recipe update is a change that’s been implemented in the US as well, as of January.

At Huel, we are obsessed with providing the greatest customer experience, which is why we regularly review and update our recipes. This time, we decided to optimize our Daily Greens recipe to enhance both taste and texture.

Since launching the Daily Greens, we’ve received requests for taste improvements, as well as feedback from some customers regarding texture and sediment at the bottom of the bottle. In response, we’ve implemented the following changes:

  • Reduction of chlorella and spirulina which improves the taste of the formula
  • Reduction of tapioca starch, gluten-free oats, and pea protein which enhances the texture of the formula while minimizing nutritional changes

As a result of these adjustments, the serving size changed from 15g to 8.5g, and the calorie count per portion will decrease from 50 kcal to 25 kcal.

We’d like to emphasize that while the serving size of the product has changed, the dose of vitamins and minerals remains largely the same. The ingredients removed and reduced were not contributing significantly to the nutritional profile. Therefore, you’re still receiving the health benefits you’d expect from Daily Greens, all while enjoying the improved taste and texture.

For your reference, I attached the nutritional profile change.

The ingredients we removed were the biggest culprits for excess sediment left at the bottom of the shaker, and we were able to remove them with minimal impact on the nutritional profile. As such, these adjustments have had little impact on the overall recipe cost.
