Polycythemia vera and Huel

I know it’s a bit of a long shot but does anyone have experience with Polycythemia vera and Huel? It is a condition that causes my bone marrow to produce too many red blood cells. I want to make sure the iron levels in Huel would not cause any problems for new. I know this forum is not a substitute for real medical advice but I was hoping for some feedback from other PV patients.

I have secondary polycythemia and have been 100% Huel RTD for 2 years and prior to that Soylent RTD for 5 years. No problems encountered.
<However, iron intake has not been shown to have an effect on polycythemia vera or its symptoms and complications.1>

Thank you! I really appreciate you sharing. I was always under the impression that I should consume the least amount of iron possible, although I’m not sure I was ever told that by my doctor

Hey @Henrob!

If it’s alright, I’d like to learn a bit more before providing additional insight as nutrition recommendations can depend on the individual’s specific history. Feel free to message me directly, if you prefer too!

Do you have any specific dietary recommendations or restrictions based on your labs/history? How often are you looking to have Huel and what kinds of foods/drinks are you consuming now?

It’s also always best to chat through Huel with your doctor as they have access to your full medical history, including your labs, prior to consuming.
