Imo this is something of a myth, the idea that eating beans and other fiber-rich foods causes lots of gas. I suspect that what happens is that people who are used to eating diets high in cheap meats and sugars one day have a serving of beans or granola, and that this causes a slight reaction in their digestive systems. Just my non-professional thoughts on the subject.
