Hello- I am writing about the new chicken and mushroom recipe. I ate this every single day for lunch a really enjoyed it. It was easy and a complete meal. One day, without warning, I got the new recipe. I thought someone tampered with it. There are large floating chunks which I think are supposed to to be fake chicken. It takes longer for the noodles to cook and the taste is awful. I can’t even describe the taste. The texture is creamier but not in a good way. Do you still have any boxes of the old formula for sale. I will no longer be able to eat this and even if I could buy a few more boxes, that would be better than nothing. Please change back!
I’m not picky with food at all. As long as it’s vegan, I’ll eat it. But I’m not sure how they managed to make it taste so foul. Why do we need fake chicken? Can’t you make pasta with mushroom sauce? Even my ex favorite Thai Green Curry is now extremely spicy and has fake animals in it. Such a shame as I would love to make this my regular meal. Unfortunately, none of them are tasty. Pasta Bolognese? Why? Can’t we just have normal pasta with tomato sauce?
No reason to make it weird, just keep it simple. I’d rather just have a cold can of beans than this.
Hey there!
So sorry that you’re not enjoying the new Chick’n & Mushroom. Unfortunately, the old recipe is no longer available.
I will pass along the general feedback, but if you could send your batch details to support@huel.com so our technical team can investigate more thoroughly, that would be great!
Hey there!
So sorry that you’re not enjoying the Thai Green Curry change! I’ll pass along the broader feedback that you’d like to see less meat imitations in the Hot & Savory, but could you reach out to support@huel.com with your batch details so that our technical team can get some more data?
Thanks!
Ok, so I tried the new version.
The older Chik’n mushroom was far superior. This one is edible, and I’ll have no problem finishing the box. I’m not as picky as other when it comes to those chewy chunks of what I think is textured vegetable protein but man, for those that don’t like that, it is an absolute deal breaker.
The older version I remember had a little more flavor to it. This seems to be a little less savory and very chewy. I like how the noodles get nice and soft.
Maybe I’ll order another box down the road when I’m tired of the pasta Bolognese and Cajun pasta for some variety.
Thank you for this feedback! Any batch details you can send over to support@huel.com so our technical team can analyze the overall data would be much appreciated! ![]()
I’m sure it’s as formulated. The 2nd packet grew on me a little bit. It’s just different that’s all
I was super disappointed too with the change to the chick’n & mushroom, to the point I couldn’t eat it - and it had been my go-to meal for a long time. I reached out to support and they were able to help me out! The bright side for me is I ordered a sampling of meal flavors in my recent subscription and found new favorites (the noodle cups are absolute fire). The little chick’n pieces are growing on me and taste the best when you add a bit more water to the cup.
Yes, you definitely need more water and more patience for those chunks to saturate with water. Orltherwise you get these gummy chunks you’re chewing on as nauseum.
Most likely the batch is as-forumulated, yes! But getting batch details sent to support@huel.com is not just important in the case of an off batch. The batch details help us keep track of how many complaints there are regarding the new recipe and if there are any other overall trends.
I’m glad to hear that the Chick’n & Mushroom has gotten better with time! Good to know that letting the protein chunks cook for a little longer is helpful.
Sorry to hear that you’re not a fan of the new Chick’n & Mushroom recipe, but glad you’ve found some other favorites!
Thanks for reaching out to our Support Team. This helps us keep track of feedback in regards to the new recipe, so it’s really helpful!
I just had the chance to eat some from an older batch, one of the big pouches, and the difference was astonishing.
The older recipe actually has flavor - a nice mushroom flavor. The new stuff seems to be going hard on trying to be “Chikn” which is never good - fake meat flavor is worse than focusing on something that’s actually in the dish!
The old recipe had little bits of protein mixed in with little bits of mushroom - much better texture.
If you have to, bring back the old recipe and just call it mushroom pasta, if the issue was not having enough “chikn” in it.
Thanks for your feedback! I’ll pass it along.
If you could send the batch details for both bags to our customer support email at support@huel.com, that would be great! While I’ve raised this thread with the team, I think the actual number of formal complaints received has been relatively low, so getting it formally recorded there can definitely help!
According to a Reddit post today BenHuel has stated those chunks are going away globally! Hooray! They will be replaced with the minced protein like in the Bolognese which I am fine with that.
I like how Huel listens to its customers.
Yep! TimHuel is the Hot & Savoury product manager and he’s really involved on Reddit (plus I escalate forum feedback to him), so rest assured, you’re in good hands!
